SB 54 Advisory Board Member - Disadvantaged, Rural and Low-Income Communities

Recently, the Ocean Protection Council (OPC) released its draft Statewide Plastics Monitoring Strategy. This document outlines how California intends to monitor plastic and microplastic pollution moving forward. With a substantial portion of SB 54-related funding — funding that is justified in part by environmental justice principles and support for disadvantaged communities.
Tribes are not included in the plastic monitoring strategy plan. There is a significant amount of funding tied to the plan from SB 54, however tribes are not included. Not including Tribes is Generational Regulatory Trauma
The draft strategy is currently in a public comment period.
Please provide public comment by March 11 that says to include tribes in the plan.
Public comments can be submitted through the Ocean Protection Council website on the Plastics Monitoring Strategy.
Feel welcome to share and forward to your community, family and friends.
